Inspired by the people, places and lifestyle of Brooklyn, we think it’s necessary to highlight what inspires us on a daily basis. 2020 was a challenging year for everyone and taking the opportunity to celebrate our favorite local businesses is important to us. In honor of Black History Month, we are taking you on a tour to shop, eat and experience some of our favorite Black owned businesses in Brooklyn.
This Bed-Stuy shop has been supplying an expertly curated selection of vino since 2011. This Black-owned wine store was started by 4 men (Rotimi Akinnuoye , Ayo Akinnuoye, Michael Brooks and Peter Medford) and has been the neighborhood favorite for the last decade! Across the street you can also find Bed-Vyne Brew and Bed-Vyne Cocktail all under the same ownership.

Aziza Nicole is a Brooklyn-based sculptor, painter, and builder who grew up in P.G. County, Maryland (DMV). She was raised in the arts, and in museums, after her mother noticed that art was her therapy. Through exploring various art forms, Aziza gravitated toward creating sculptures from wax and metal, more commonly known as jewelry. Taking the perspective of an artist who creates with love and intention, she draws inspiration from beauty, history, and her multi-layered heritage, creating a unisex collection of protective layerings and heirlooms that can be passed on for generations.
